We all engage in activities that, if left unchecked, will absolutely cause great damage to our lives. Here is a series of self-checks — originally designed for our leadership team — that you can use to sort out the quiet acts of self-sabotage.
You’re going to find language here written specifically for ministry leaders — the pulpit, elders, the flock, and so on. Two things about that.
First, let it encourage you. These self-checks were built for our own leadership team, because we take the integrity of the people who shepherd this church seriously — and we’re glad to hand you the very same tools we hold ourselves to.
Second, nearly all of it still applies to you with a little mental transposition. The vocabulary is pastoral; the temptations underneath it are simply human. As you read, quietly swap in your own life:
Do that, and a test about a pastor coasting on old sermons becomes a test about you coasting at work. The self-sabotage is the same either way — and so is the grace that meets it.
Your answers are never stored. Each test is scored in seconds and the answers discarded — only your category scores (bare numbers) are kept, so you can build a full picture over time.
