Ministry Name: Coffee Ministry

Welcoming, Reliable, Cool Under Pressure

More than a barista...Coffee Ministry contributors are some of the first points of contact for both members of Providence as well as guests. They welcome, serve, and connect individuals not just to a warm, welcoming beverage, but also to the culture, building, and population of Providence. More than making people feel at home, though, the ministry also engages a planning skillset, ensuring that the supply of coffee meets weekly demand and that the required resources are on hand to produce the desired amount. And while serving those warm beverages, Coffee Ministry contributors stay cool under pressure when the occasional technical glitch or planning hiccup causes a bump in the road. Ultimately, coffee ministry is a key role for developing initial and ongoing connections for the people of Providence through serving enjoyable and stimulating cups of coffee.

More than that, though, their organization skills promote PCC’s efforts to effectively and efficiently maintain stock of the key supplies utilized by the church – whether it be snacks, cleaning supplies, toiletries, or beyond. Saintly Shoppers have an eye for detail and can effectively collaborate with others – working with other ministry leaders to know what are the right supplies, amounts and times for stocking up. Their proactive mindset sets them up to be ahead of demand, ensuring little to no out of stock situations, and they thrive on quietly serving the church in a seemingly inglorious, but much relied-upon ministry. A smile, a handshake (or fist-bump), a kind “hello” – are some of the ingredients they bake into their welcoming recipe. Not only that but Greeters helpfully connect individuals to the building layout and other Sunday support ministries – like Children’s Ministry and Coffee. They also collaborate with the Security Team as a frontline eyes and ears to supporting the safety of the congregation. Finally, they authentically connect with members and guests as they – week after week – greet individuals and have the opportunity to learn about them.
