Providence Community Church was planted in the fall of 2002. The dream was simple, to plant a church—in partnership with Sovereign Grace Ministries—that would become a home for gospel centered ministry in Johnson County and the broader Kansas City area.
It started with a small planting team of seven families who had experienced the power of life together through an intentionally gospel shaped community. They had a vision to see a church committed to treasuring, declaring and maturing in the gospel take root in KC.
By God’s grace Providence has grown from those founding families into a thriving cross-centered church in the heart of Johnson County. While the church itself is in many ways still ‘young’, the truth we celebrate is ‘old’ in the best sense of the word. That original dream is still alive and growing today, as Providence seeks to glorify God by making disciples who find their deepest delight in Jesus Christ. The knowledge of Christ’s unwavering love for His bride, the Church, gives us great hope and anticipation as we consider God’s future plans for us.
